Shea McNitt & Carter Shareholder and Past President of the San Diego County Bar, Aaron Katz, Appointed to the Superior Court

Aaron H. Katz, a shareholder with the litigation firm of Shea McNitt & Carter and the past president of the San Diego County Bar Association, has been appointed to the Superior Court for San Diego County by Governor Gray Davis.

Mr. Katz has tried in excess of 60 jury trials in a practice emphasizing premises and products liability, general liability, professional liability and healthcare. His published opinions include Mercy Hospital and Medical Center v. Farmers Insurance Group of Companies, 15 Cal.5th 213 (1997).

In addition to serving as president of the San Diego County Bar Association, Mr. Katz has served as director of that association and of the San Diego County Deputy District Attorney’s Association. He has been active on the boards of the San Diego County Bar Foundation and the San Diego Mediation Center, and participated on the Standing Committee on Discipline for the United States District Court for the Southern District of California, and on the Committee on Federal Courts for the California State Bar. Mr. Katz is also a member of the American Board of Trial Advocates.

Mr. Katz is married to Head Deputy City Attorney, Keri Katz. They have two children, Alexa, age 12, and Jacob, age 9, and reside in Scripps Ranch.
